Finding the Right Personal Trainer in Burlingame and San Francisco: Establishing Your Point A

Over the past 20 years as a Personal Trainer I’ve coached in ways that were heavily focused on Functional Training, I’ve incorporated Unconventional Tools like Steel Maces, Steel Clubs and Sandbags, used ground based movements like Animal Flow and Power Lifting with my clients.

At this point in my evolution in Personal Training, I utilize what is useful from each of these spaces, while integrating a through-line of Mobility Training at the core. Reflecting on my journey as a fitness coach, and Personal Trainer working in San Francisco and Burlingame, I can recall pushing clients through things because it’s what I liked to do.

I can also recall back to my younger days as a trainer when I coached abroad in Bangkok, Thailand and how I would only do the things that the client liked. At some point as a professional we have to find a mix of what the you like and what the you need. Most of the time, you as a client don’t truly know what you need. In these cases as a personal trainer and professional we need to become a guide in order to help you learn what it is you are truly after.

I recently had a Personal Training Client who traveled from the East Bay to see me at Kauno SF They had been everywhere in search of solutions for their knee that had been giving them problems for years. From Chiropractors to Physical Therapists, they had done everything he could to deal with his meniscus. They tried specialized regimes and programs like Knees Over Toes without success.

None of the people that they saw addressed their fundamental mobility issues. No one had ever told them that their knee was supposed to rotate or that their hip had zero degrees of rotational ability. We assessed and with the findings, we were able to establish these facts. Only when armed with this knowledge of their point A, and our ability to find a path that worked “SPECIFICALLY” for them, did they truly start to heal and thrive.

This underlines a critical point: Fitness isn't a one-size-fits-all solution.

What works wonders for one might be detrimental to another. Working within the space that I do, along with the Physical Therapists at Kauno SF, and other Therapists along the peninsula, I’m able to collaboratively find solutions for you and help people like you move safely back into higher levels of training.
